In the year 2024, Real Madrid made a last-minute decision to boycott the awards ceremony after their star, Vinicius, was unable to secure a win, having been defeated by the European Cup champion, Rodrigo. The following year, in 2025, only one individual, Caroline Ver, represented the club at the event. However, this year, the participation of Real Madrid in the ceremony and the number of attendees are set to significantly surpass the levels of the past two years.
Moreover, several individuals associated with Real Madrid have been shortlisted for various accolades, such as Thibaut Courtois for the "Best Goalkeeper of the Season" award, Jan Diomande for the "Newcomer of the Year" honor, and Felicia Schröder for the "Female Newcomer of the Year" prize.
