Since his initial induction in 2007, Lionel Messi has shattered records by consecutively making the FIFPRO Team of the Year for 17 years. However, the previous year marked the end of this streak as he failed to secure a spot on the best lineup. In the recent years, Messi has once more been named among the nominees for the prestigious team, marking his 20th appearance on the candidate list.
